Priorities For European “Wise Men” With Reference to the Crisis: Energy, Migration, Security

In December, 2007, Nicolás Sarkozy proposed González as chairman of the “Reflection Group on the Future of the European Union”, also known as the “Wise Men´s Committee”. This is a group integrated by a chairman, two deputies: former Latvian President, Vaira Vike-Freiberga, and former chairman of the transnational company Nokia, Jorma Ollila- and other six members, politics and businessmen. Their goal is to make a diagnosis of the conditions of Europe and look for possible solutions for 2020-2030. The committee must present their conclusions in a report due in September 2010, moment in which Spain will become President of the Union.
